About First Health Check

No one wants to have their life cut short as we desire to have health, longevity and happiness. Unfortunately, diseases like coronary heart and cancer can strike without warning and have no care for what we want. However with a First Health Check Personal Health Assessment, we can detect potential issues long before symptoms appear. If something concerning is detected, early intervention increases your chance of successful treatment.

Let’s take lung cancer as an example. Each year in the UK approximately 50,000 patients are unfortunately diagnosed with lung cancer, making it the third most common cancer in the country. Sadly, only 5% of patients survive beyond 10 years largely due to late detection, where the disease has already spread. Over the past 40 years, survival rates have remained stagnant. However, screening for it using the advanced techniques we employ at First Health Check allows for detection at an early stage when the tumour is just a few millimetres in size, boosting the chances of successful treatment to over 95%, 10+ year survival.

Our Diamond Preventative Health Assessment is expertly designed to identify over 90% of the leading causes of premature deaths including lung cancer, at a stage when effective treatment is still possible and outcomes are dramatically improved.

At First Health Check, we offer an unparalleled opportunity for comprehensive preventative health assessments in the vibrant city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Our esteemed partner hospital, a leader in healthcare for 30 years, is located in the heart of Ahmedabad, where its expansive green surroundings provide a serene and rejuvenating environment for every patient.

What makes us so different is our commitment to precision and excellence. Unlike many healthcare providers that rely on statistical models or predictive assessments, we prioritise concrete, data-driven insights. Each of us is different and one size does not fit all. That’s why we look at every client on a case by case basis. No-one is permitted to go through a Health Assessment at First Health Check unless a qualified and very experienced physician has reviewed your personal medical history and risk factors. Our state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment is operated by highly skilled radiographers, producing detailed scans that are reviewed by some of the world’s most respected radiologists and physicians. You will receive a personalised report, carefully interpreted by an expert medical team led by one of the most esteemed physicians, along with actionable advice tailored specifically to your health needs.

Beyond receiving world-class medical care at a fraction of the cost you’d expect to pay in the UK, your journey to India offers more than just healthcare—it’s also a unique opportunity to discover the beauty and cultural richness of India. From the historical splendor of ever city to the breathtaking landscapes and beyond, your health journey can double as an unforgettable travel experience, allowing you to check off a long-held destination on your bucket list.

At First Health Check, we believe that world-class healthcare should be accessible to everyone, and our mission is to provide it at an affordable price without compromising on quality. Take control of your health today by investing in a package that not only offers peace of mind but also a rich, holistic experience. Your well-being deserves nothing less.

When you choose a First Health Check preventative health assessment, you can trust that the price is transparent and fixed from the very start. There are no hidden costs for the scans and assessments included in your package. Should any findings require a referral to a specialist, additional costs may apply, but for the assessment itself, the price you agree to initially will remain consistent throughout the process.

At First Health Check, we provide one of the most comprehensive preventative health evaluations available. Our Diamond Health Assessment is designed to detect over 90% of the conditions that are most likely to lead to premature death. By contrast, analysis of data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveals that health assessments limited to MRI scans can only detect between 50% and 60% of these critical conditions.

We are confident that very few clinics can match the thoroughness and precision of our diagnostic approach without resorting to additional scans. Even then, their final cost is likely to exceed the investment required for a First Health Check assessment. We provide not just peace of mind through world-class medical insights but also unmatched value, empowering you to take proactive control of your health with complete confidence.

Yes, a First Health Check preventative assessment plan is specifically designed to identify potential health risks early, before symptoms develop and suitable for male and female over the age of 35. By using advanced diagnostic technology and thorough medical evaluations, a comprehensive health assessment can detect health conditions such as diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease and many other serious illnesses. At First Health Check, our expert team of physicians review your personal medical history, risk factors and lifestyle to advise the best preventative assessment plan for you. Should you have particular concerns of a strong family history of a specific disease, please get in contact with us so that one of our senior physicians can assess your individual risk factors.

No, you will not need a referral from your GP or a hospital doctor. First Health Check assessments are subject to you completing a medical questionnaire which will then be reviewed by one of our senior doctors to determine which plan will be suitable for you.

Preventative health assessments using CT and MRI scans are highly effective in identifying potential health risks at an early stage. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) has the distinct advantage of not using ionizing radiation, making it an excellent option for repeated imaging when necessary. This is especially beneficial for individuals who may require ongoing monitoring. MRI is particularly proficient at diagnosing a range of medical conditions, including conditions related to the nervous system, vascular conditions, and cancers. However, it is less effective for detecting lung conditions and may not be suitable for patients with metallic implants.

In contrast, some of the most common and preventable diseases—such as lung cancer, colon cancer, and coronary artery disease—are best detected using CT (Computed Tomography) scans. While CT scans do involve exposure to ionizing radiation, the technology we use is among the most advanced in the world, minimising radiation doses significantly compared to older models. Rest assured, all CT scans conducted at our facility strictly adhere to safety regulations, and each scan is carefully monitored by a senior medical radiographer to ensure it is necessary and appropriate.

By offering both MRI and CT scans as part of our preventative health assessments, we aim to provide a comprehensive and safe approach to early disease detection, helping you maintain long-term health and well-being.

Preparing for your health assessment is simple and very straightforward which requires just a few steps. You will need to fast and avoid caffeine and alcohol for 12 hours. On the day of your assessment we advise that you do not exercise and wear minimum Jewellery and to dress in comfortable attire and request that you wear spectacles instead of contact lenses. These simple instructions ensure that your diagnostic results are as accurate as possible.

If your health assessment includes a CT scan, there may be additional preparation involved. You might be asked to follow a low-residue diet for 24 hours beforehand and drink an oral contrast agent. This harmless dye helps the radiologist differentiate between normal digestive residue and any areas of concern, such as colon polyps.

Rest assured that all necessary details will be fully explained to you by your senior clinician, who will guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have. Our team is also available by phone or email at any time should you need further clarification or assistance before your health assessment

Absolutely. We recognise that MRI is the most effective method for imaging specific areas of the body, particularly:

  • The brain and spinal cord
  • The arteries in the brain and neck
  • Bones and joints
  • The prostate gland

The quality and detail of MRI scans are determined by the strength of the scanner’s magnets, measured in Tesla. Most MRI scanners, including the majority used within the NHS, operate at 1.5 Tesla, which provides good image quality. However, a 3 Tesla MRI scanner, which operates at twice the standard strength, delivers significantly better image clarity and detail due to its greater signal-to-noise ratio. This level of precision is particularly important for prostate imaging, and multi-parametric 3T MRI scanning is now considered the “gold standard” for detecting prostate cancer, the most common cancer in men.

Due to the higher cost and operational complexities, 3T MRI scanners are less common, with only a few available in central London. However, First Health Check is committed to providing the highest standard of care. That’s why we utilise one of these industry-leading scanners through our trusted imaging partner, located just a short distance from our hospital. We believe this slight inconvenience is well worth it, as our Medical Director is confident that the enhanced image quality provided by this state-of-the-art scanner is invaluable for precise diagnostics and early detection.

Our clients greatly appreciate this commitment to excellence, knowing that they’re receiving some of the most advanced medical imaging available today.

All of the preventative health assessment scans we provide, including CT, ECG, EOS, ultrasound, full body mole scans, and comprehensive blood tests are all conducted at our partner hospital. However, our commitment extends beyond convenience—we strive to ensure our clients have access to the highest quality equipment and diagnostic technology available.

In Ahmedabad, there are only a few 3 Tesla MRI scanners, and we have exclusive access to one of them, located just a short drive from our hospital. For your comfort, we’ll arrange transportation and personally escort you to and from the facility so that your assessment experience remains seamless and hassle-free.

Many of our clients have expressed that, when faced with the choice between staying in one location or making a short journey to access the best MRI technology available, they always prioritise the latter. The advanced 3 Tesla MRI offers unmatched diagnostic precision, significantly improving the chances of early disease detection. For us, providing access to such cutting-edge technology is integral to delivering the best possible care.

First Health Check preventative heath assessments range from 2-4 days depending on the package. Our clinician will guide you through each step, ensuring you are fully informed. Additionally, our team is available by phone or email to address any questions should you need further clarification or assistance before your health assessment.

The nature of our comprehensive preventative assessment means that we frequently identify abnormalities. In most cases these are minor, such as slightly abnormal blood results, which may only require lifestyle adjustments or a discussion of potential treatment options. Occasionally, more significant issues may be identified during scans. Rest assured, our highly experienced consultant physicians will carefully review all your results with you, clearly explaining their importance and implications.

If further specialist care is required, our consultants will leverage their in-depth knowledge to refer you to the most qualified expert for your condition, ensuring that you receive prompt and appropriate care.

At First Health Check, we are committed to supporting you throughout your entire Health Assessment journey, ensuring you receive the highest quality treatment for any findings.

To see how a typical day works out for one of our Health Assessments, please see our all Assessments page for more details.

The frequency for further assessments is tailored to your individual needs. Factors such as your age, risk factors, and the results of your initial assessment will be considered. Generally, we recommend a preventative health assessment every 3-5 years. However, if specific concerns arise, more frequent or targeted screenings may be suggested.

At First Heath Check if there is one thing we obsess about is data protection and patient confidentiality, we have the necessary systems in place for the storage of medical reports.

Currently we do not offer financing options, this is something that we may introduce in the near future.

If you are pregnant we highly advise to wait until you have your baby. Both MRI and CT scanning are contraindicated in pregnancy.

Yes, our hospital is suitable to clients with physical disabilities. Please let us know prior to your assessment if you require any assistance.
